Piove? Piove!

The University has expanded its water conservation measures and:
--Turned off all ornamental fountains.
--Discontinued vehicle washing at the service station.
--Discontinued water use for cleaning of streets and pathways.
--Eliminated spray irrigation with potable water.
--Eliminated spray irrigation for landscaping and lawns.
--Reduced Grounds potable water consumption by 98%.
--Reduced water quantities to minimum amount needed to sustain
plantings, with hand watering by non-potable sources wherever feasible.
--Delayed new plantings.
--Ordered dual-flush toilet valves for all the buildings surrounding
Polk Place and McCorkle Place.
--Ordered dual-flush valves and waterfree urinal at the Tomkins Chilled
Water Operations Center.
--Will recover foundation drain water from the new Genetic Medicine
Building for use in South Chiller Plant cooling towers.
Your actions make a difference.
--Keep showers short. Limit showers to four minutes or less. Use
shower heads with on/off valve and turn off water while soaping up or
lathering. Turn water on to get wet and to rinse off.
--Use the lowest volume needed to flush toilets.
--Do not leave water running while brushing teeth or shaving.
--Do not leave water running while washing dishes or laboratory items.
--Run dishwasher and clothes washer with full loads, or reduce water
setting, if smaller loads must be run.
--Store water in the refrigerator instead of running tap water until
it's cold.
--Reuse dish and shower water to water plants.
--Use the garbage can instead of the garbage disposal.
--Don't discard trash in the toilet. Use the garbage can for garbage.
--Use dry clean up methods where possible.
--Use water wisely.
